Out I stepped
Slipping and sliding
On my feet I was gliding
Out of control
Feet on a roll
Up in the air they flew
I didn’t know what I would do
Down I landed

Out of Darkness into the Light
Purging the darkness out
Fighting back the void of night
Left with a hole so full of blight
Walking a path through a tunnel ahead
Towards the end and freedom’s stay
Often stumbling and falling to the ground
Arms of darkness trying to pull me back down
Trail ahead fraught with danger
Fighting furiously to save my soul
Alone I’m left lost to despair
Needing the help of the one who has conquered death
Pull me close oh Lord, fill me with your might
Lead my path ahead into your light

Whispers on the night
Passing across the miles
From the song of my heart
To the depths of your soul
Along the pathway to your dreams
I play a tune meant only for you
A lullaby to ease your restless slumber
May you sense when you wake

Only meant for you
On Top of the Mountain
Standing on top of the mountain so high
Telling the world look at me, full of my pride
World looks back and strikes me down
Knocking me off this ground so high
Tumbling down among the rocks I fall
Bashing me bruising my very soul
Crashing amongst the trees

The valley of death stares my way
Slowly pulling myself back to my knees

Put the pieces of this heart so broken
Back to where they once did belong

Needing to work on something important
Dealing with an issue that came my way

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Awaiting the day of arrival
Looking into your eyes for the first time
Heart wrapped around your finger
Crawling along the floor
Pulling up to walk some more
First day of school, following the bus to ensure you’re not scared
School plays, recitals and field trips
Watching you scrape your knees when you fall on the ground
Holding you close as tears abound
Family trips, holidays and so much more
Into a young lady you grow so quick
Days go by, weeks than years
Graduation day is soon here
Watching you strike out on your own
Soon a young man catches your eye
Down the aisle I lead you, with a tear in my eye
So proud I am to watch you grow from the baby girl I held so close
To the fine you woman you have become
Always remember that, “In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle the Lion Sleeps Tonight”

Flying across the sky
Caressing the air without a care
Gliding along on the currents above
Floating across the sea of the night
Gently sliding down to earth
A single snowflake leading the pack
Soon many more will follow its lead
Filling the air with the greatest of ease
Wind wiping them around flipping and falling
Soon the air is a filled all in white
The snow covering the ground like a blanket on a bed
Tucking in the grass for a long winters nap

Cold bites at my face
Burning my skin in its embrace
Vapors rise from between my lips
Rising into the emptiness
Winds bring a harsh cold
Sending a chill deep into soul
A frosty wonderland
Blasting into me where I stand
Skies shown in a deep blue
A sharp crispness comes into view
Wishing that summer was here soon

A Walk Into 2017
Took a walk around our neighborhood on the first day of the year. Just had this urge to go out and take pictures. It was a beautiful winter day and thankfully not too cold. Well if you call upper 20’s not too cold. Just felt like doing something different to start the new year out. Pictures they say are worth a thousand words, well I don’t know about that always. I hope you enjoy a touch of winter. Happy New Year.
