The Edge of Forever

Upon a journey he had never experienced

Never before had he believed possible

Against all probability

Along roads that had seen nothing but rejection

Many routes he did follow all ended in near destruction

Finally, a path found that led him to the edge of forever

He stumbled along that razor thin ridge line

Scared that this might end in his final decline

When all hope was thought lost

Over the edge he tossed

Unto forever his heart found a home

And into a place it was meant to roam

The Order of Things Unseen

Behind the veil

Something is hidden beyond your reach

To describe it would be such a tale

Strangeness of your thoughts forever beseeched

Telling you the story of what could be

Hidden behind your mind’s smokescreen

So outlandish to one who would see

Because it’s still left to the order of things unseen

Leaving you to ever ponder what your mind has imagined

Sitting behind that veil

Alone

I sit here alone
Thoughts of my life running around in my head
Looking back on my mistakes I bemoan
The quietness brings upon nothing but dread
Distance sound of the whistle of a train horn
A stillness in the air abounds
Silence surrounds me like a sleeping newborn
Flashes of my past play in the background
Knowing my life is passing me by
Misery over what I have missed
These thoughts make me want to cry
Memories of mistakes cannot be dismissed
So, I sit here alone in my thoughts
Tearing me up inside leaving myself twisted in knots

Macaroni Madness

Down the road beyond the turn in the bend

Upon which the road did end

There lived a peculiar family I do say

I first met them on a hot and muggy Wednesday

When I met them, they seemed just a normal sort

The Father seem I right spiffy old sport

And Mother you could tell was a looker back in her day

The children a boy and a girl seemed squared away

So how could this family be beyond the norm you ask

It was you see all a mask

For soon their true colors did appear

And it was something that should have been quite clear

Within there house it was told

Of a strange proclivity this family did hold

Upon their all the walls

Up and down the halls

In the cupboards and up on the ceiling

It was quite revealing

Was noodles of all kinds

Spaghetti, ziti, elbow, egg and all that you can imagine come to mind

The furniture was covered from one side to the next

Patterns that were really complex

When they took them away

The towns folk would often just say

Them parents must have been filled with badness

Because it seemed like it was nothing but macaroni madness

Tuesday Tunes 80’s Version – Squeeze “Tempted”

One of the first bands on the Alternative scene that I really got into due to watching MTV (when it actually showed music videos)

I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste
A flannel for my face
Pajamas, a hairbrush
New shoes and a case
I said to my reflection
“Let’s get out of this place”

Passed the church and the steeple
The laundry on the hill
Billboards and the buildings
Memories of it still
Keep calling and calling
But forget it all, I know I will

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What’s been going on
Now that you have gone
There’s no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

I’m at the car park, the airport
The baggage carousel
(The people keep on grindin’)
Ain’t wishing I was well
I said it’s no occasion
(It’s no story I could tell)

At my bedside empty pocket
A foot without a sock
Your body gets much closer
I fumble for the clock
Alarmed by the seduction
I wish that it would stop

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What’s been going on
Now that you have gone
There’s no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

I bought a novel, some perfume
A fortune all for you
But it’s not my conscience
That hates to be untrue
I asked of my reflection
Tell me what is there to do?

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What’s been going on
Now that you have gone
There’s no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

Tuesday Tunes 80’s Version – The Buggles – Video Killed the Radio Star

The first music video played on MTV.  I remember watching it as it came on the air and saw this video. Yes kids at one time MTV actually played Music Videos.

I heard you on the wireless back in fifty two
Lying awake intent at tuning in on you
If I was young it didn’t stop you coming through
Oh a oh

They took the credit for your second symphony
Rewritten by machine on new technology
And now I understand the problems you can see
Oh a oh

I met your children
Oh a oh

What did you tell them?
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star

Pictures came and broke your heart
Oh, a, a, a, oh

And now we meet in an abandoned studio
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago
And you remember the jingles used to go
Oh-a oh

You were the first one
Oh-a oh

You were the last one

Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
In my mind and in my car, we can’t rewind we’ve gone to far
Oh-a-aho oh
Oh-a-aho oh

Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
In my mind and in my car, we can’t rewind we’ve gone too far
Pictures came and broke your heart
Put down the blame on VCR

Oh, you are a radio star
You are a radio star
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star

Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star
Video killed the radio star

Misty Morning Melancholy

As the darkness of night fades away
Before the brightness of the coming day
She sits upon a bed made for two
Another night she has made it through
Counting each moment, they are apart
Her heart was his from the very start
Knowing that the time grows short
The words of his love upon which she finds support
Upon this morn she finds no jolly
It is nothing but another misty morning melancholy
