Trick or Treat’s Past

casper

I  have always looked forward to Halloween and all that came with it. When I was a kid in elementary school we would have a day when we would dress up in our costumes. We would as a class go from one class to the next showing off our costumes with the other classes. After that we would have a little Halloween party in our classroom and often our teacher would read us a story. In my neighborhood I would get together with all my friends and we would go out trick or treating throughout the our neighborhood, the next one and the one after that. We would literally run from house to house trying to get as much candy as possible. Back then the masks we would wear were nothing like the ones today, you couldn’t see out of them or breath out of them. Then as we would finally get tired we would head to the park that was at the end of the road, right in the middle of our neighborhood and they would have a giant bonfire and they would have hot (always would burn my tongue) chocolate and Tootsie rolls. The candies back then were the small candy bars, the peanut butter tasting (black and orange wrapped) candy, pixie sticks (pure sugar) and lots of gum. Then for the days that followed we would bring our candy to school and trade with our other friends. As I got even older, the nights would last even later for Trick or Treating, if it was a weekend we would always sleep over at my friend’s house, the one were his parents didn’t care how late we were out. We sometimes would be out until midnight. If we saw a house with its lights on we would ring the doorbell. They would usually drop any candy they had left into our bags and shut the light off. We would then go back to my friends house and watch a bunch of slasher movies. In high school Halloween meant it was time to smash pumpkins (don’t judge me..LOL), and we were basically a bunch of juvenile delinquents. Now as I have grown older it was the fun of taking my children out and getting them all dressed up into their cute costumes. Of course some times it wasn’t only the kids getting a treat, one of our neighbors were we use to live would give the parents a beer or a drink. Now we have a house that everyone calls the Jell-O shot house. I always tell my kids that all the Peanut M&M’s are mine and they are the cost of me taking them around the neighborhood. It does seem that more and more this holiday is less community oriented as it was when I was a kid and just a holiday for candy and spending money on outrageous costumes. I mean what kid needs a $100.00 costume. Well I just want to say Happy Halloween to everyone. If you don’t celebrate it that is ok to, but don’t judge me if I do. It is just a day to enjoy being a kid no matter how old you are.

You Are

You are my past

Without you I wouldn’t last

You are my yesterday

Caught within your arms is a place I would love to stay

You are my today

My love for you will never go away

You are my tomorrow

Time apart brings upon sorrow

You are my future

Our dreams of then will be beyond super

You are my forever

Two hearts made into one is our endeavor

Words of a Writer

Places, people and imaginary creatures

Pink tutu ballerinas dancing in the bleachers

Clouds lazily move across skies of unimaginable colors

Two lovers express words brought to life in Technicolor

Amazing lands full of magic and wonder

Pirates raiding the high seas for plunder

Vampires and werewolves full of sex appeal

People praying to God with full zeal

So many things come from her head

Written down with paper and a pen

Like a sword it strikes blows that pierce your heart

Words that make a pictures like a painter does to art

She amazes me with each word she writes

Talent never-ending like a satellite roaming across a dark night

Far Away

beutiful-boy-dad-father-hero-favim_com-448329

Darkness as black as coal

Stars shimmer as the only light

A lonely outpost in the vast mountains

All around the enemy lurks in the dark

Plotting and planning to kill and destroy

Inside thoughts are thousands of miles away

Restless sleep as dreams of loved ones abound

Thinking of a wife, child or parents back home

Fear is a feeling that they hold down deep

Brothers in arms they must trust each other to survive

While outside the enemy plots to lay waste to their lives

A flash of light, an explosion rocks the night

Gunfire, rockets, bombs all around

The thoughts of country and home go away

Only thing that matters now is your brother on your left and right

The enemy comes wave after wave

Those dreams of home drift so far away

Seconds become minutes, minutes become hours

Fear and adrenaline rush through their veins

Explosions and shots all around

The fight for survival rules this ground

Silent prayers to God abound

Lord keep me safe and let me see my loved ones again

The enemy comes closer and closer, rage and hate in their hearts

The battle goes on through the night

Waiting for the vestiges of first light

Men cry out in anguish and pain

Unknown who will live and who will die

Loved ones back home awake from their dreams

Feeling an anguish at the gasp of a last breathe

Hearts once attached awake

Broken apart sensing their loss

Tears fall and bodies give out knowing their soldiers light has gone out.

Re-posted in honor of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in duty to their country and the families who have dealt with that sacrifice. May God bring you peace.

Remembrance to all who have fallen in duty to our country on this Memorial Day.

Winter Wonderland

winter-677721_960_720

When I was a kid winter was a magical time of the year

Sledding, building forts, snow angels and so much more

A time to look forward to Christmas time and vacation

Looking forward to watching the snow fall

Heading outside to play till I was frozen to the bone

As I grew, the magic was replaced by just having fun

Snowball fights, skeetching behind the bus, and so much more

Getting our driver’s license and learning what fun it could be

Doing donuts in the snow, slide turns with the emergency brake

Going on ski trips, sledding until all hours in the dark

Adulthood hit and things began to change

The winter time was more of a pain

Driving to work, digging out the drive way and so much more

Yes there was times of fun

Playing with the kids, building snowmen and a few other things

What do I look forward to in winter now a days

I look forward to the first day of spring and the warmth it brings.

Itch

cat-1459522_960_720

Creeping crawling under your skin

Not sure of where you should begin

Twisting turning trying to reach

Scratching clawing unable to find

Driving you crazy outta of your mind

Rubbing against a door frame for relief

Finding none but disbelief

Grabbing a stick if you dare

Rubbing it around without a care

Still no reprieve from that gnawing itch

It drives you crazy, son of a bitch

Asking a friend to dig in with their claws

Keep on missing the spot just because

Sweat forms on your brow

As you seek a respite

Trying to take a bite

Falling to the floor you try once more

Sliding yourself until your head hits the door

That itch, that itch

Ain’t it a bitch.

No Other

bed-couple-gif-gifs-Favim_com-2655253.gif

Silky smooth

Soft to my touch

Velvety under my fingers

As I caress your body

Heat elevating between us

Steam is rising

An eruption of volcanic proportions

When I feel your body next to mine

Sweetness of honey

Dripping its nectar

Delicious to my taste

Your lips as they touch mine

Gazing into heaven

Connecting our two souls

Unable to look away

As I glimpse into your eyes

Our bodies made for one another

Perfected by God to be as one

No other is meant for me

Reintroduction of A Soldier’s Walk

11168920_10207948534621538_1435755231866657223_n

I just wanted to say thank you first to all of you out there that have taken the time to read my writings. When I first started this blog, I didn’t know what to expect or whether I would be able to even write anything. My experience with writing anything was an occasional letter to someone and writing Papers in High School and College (A long time ago for both). I am what you would have called at the time, a failed husband, a self-prescribed underwhelming father and just going through the motions of life. I was really dead inside and was lost at how to get out of it. My wonderful wife, who I almost lost due to this absence I had allowed into our marriage is the one who lead me into this world. She has been blogging for around 3 years and I must say is an amazing writer. See her blog here; https://puttingmyfeetinthedirt.com/ . I won’t go into her journey with her blog, but let’s just say my absence in our marriage was behind some of her writings. I didn’t know a thing about poetry beyond maybe Dr. Seuss books. I just knew I had so much bottled up inside of me. I was never one who was good with emotions, I just bottled them up and stuffed them deep down inside. With writing this blog I have found a freedom to express a lot of these emotions not only through my writing, but in my life. Over these last few months I have been on a journey that was to win the heart of my wife back. I know this is not a journey with an end, but something I need to do every day.

A majority of my writing has been inspired on my feelings towards my lovely wife. I hope this journey may inspire others to know that it is never too late to fight for what is right, no matter what it may be. I know a lot of you were surprised to find out that ~ M and I were husband and wife. It was a decision made mutually between us to hide that fact until we knew was the right time. I have learned a lot about myself through this blogging adventure and reading and interacting with so many of you have really made a lasting imprint on my life. I am amazed by all the talent I see through so many of you and am inspired by it. Again I want to just reintroduce myself and say hello and thank you for coming along on this journey with me.

Yup that is a real picture of me.

Becoming Us

yamata-no-orochi_large

Wrapped in your arms

Held tight in your grasp

Lips coming together

Taste of sweetness within your kiss

Running my hands through your hair

Silk threads so smooth to my touch

Gazing into your eyes

A fire blazes into my soul

Desire to be engulfed completely within you

Needing you, wanting you, lost in you

Today, tomorrow, forever more

You and I becoming us

Snow

blizzard.jpg

Flying across the sky

Caressing the air without a care

Gliding along on the currents above

Floating across the sea of the night

Gently sliding down to earth

A single snowflake leading the pack

Soon many more will follow its lead

Filling the air with the greatest of ease

Wind wiping them around flipping and falling

Soon the air is a filled all in white

The snow covering the ground like a blanket on a bed

Tucking in the grass for a long winters nap
