Well hello all you out there in blog land, as you have noticed it’s been a while since I wrote. I’m on the mend and doing much better. My shoulder is healing good and getting stronger every day. This summer has been a long one and since I’m down here in Louisiana, a hot and humid one. I’m looking forward to moving back north. My days as a soldier are running down, so soon I will hang my boots up and be onto the next part of my life. Before then I have to deal with another birthday, it’s one of the big ones. I just want to thank everyone for their patience and their wishes and prayers for my healing. So today I reintroduce myself back into this world of blogging and say I have missed you all and look forward to hearing from you and reading all your amazing stories and poems. So off we go……..
Friends
Looking Back
Looking back on a childhood so long ago
I think back to my neighborhood where I did roam
A group of friends we were all the same age
We were a group of eight young boys
Times were much simpler back then
There were no cellphones or digital cameras that tracked our lives
No exciting video games and only 4 or 5 channels on the boob tube
Our neighborhood was our play land
Playing games like football in the mud and flashlight tag at night
Buying fireworks through the mail and the good kinds to boot
So many things we did, we were limited by our imagination alone
Running through the yards late into the night
Playing games like fake fight
Swimming in an old Recycle Pond
Going sledding in the dark well past one
It seemed those days would never end
But time has a way to change even those so close
High School came and we moved apart
Moving different places
Becoming parts of different groups
I miss those days, I miss those friends
But those memories are something I hold close
Oh those years ago when life was simple and friends were everything
I still talk to a few of my old mates
Some I haven’t seen since we officially became men
Now we all have families and such
But a bond built over those many summers and winters long ago
A life so simple but so yet so full of fun

3. My 4 beautiful daughters
4. My 2 handsome son-in-laws
5. My Mother, who is always there for her family with a heart of gold
6. My Father and Step Mother, who show my wife and children so much love
7. My Sister who I miss dearly each and every day
8. My Big Brother, you will always be that to me.
9. My Nieces and Nephews who have grown up so well
10. My other brother(and my nephew who is so full of life and wonder) and sister (and her wonderful husband) who I see to little of.
11. My In-laws who have always giving us support and been there for us and our children when needed. Always giving such words and of encouragement and love.
12. My friends who I may not always agree with, but they will always be my friends first.
13. My Army Buddies, it is a rare breed which we are, but even though we see each other so little, so close we still are.
14. Being able to still do the job I love, serving the country I love and has given me so much.
15. I am thankful for so much more and more, I could go on forever.
16. May your Thanksgiving be full of the blessings from our Lord above. Count your blessings, you may find more than you realize.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL……
Dandelion Dreams
Dreams of far off places
Wishes for adventures in exotic lands
Hoping for best friends
Praying that her daddies trip will soon end
Blowing upon a weed full of hope
She exhales upon her dandelion dreams
Spreading her dreams, hopes, wishes and prayers upon the wind
She watches them glide away into the sky
Watching then fly into the clouds with a tear in her eyes.

Changes
Today marks an end
Having to say goodbye to so many friends
A change in life
Can bring so much strife
Uncertainties abound
Clarity often not found
Praying each day
That God will lead my way
An end to a chapter
One that was full of tears and laughter
A new journey I start
Following the call within my heart
A new road ahead
On wings of an eagle I am led

30 Years
Where has the time gone?
The days of innocence past
Worries that once we thought would never pass
From our first day of kindergarten
To the day we went our separate ways
Days of classes, lectures and tests
Weekends of work, fun and play
Cruising in cars to the tunes of our time
The only care we had were what do we do next
Some off to college, some off to work
Some started families and others drifted apart
Thirty years have gone by since we left that life
Those days we spent in a High School daze
Now we have new lives
Families, careers and so much more
Friends who are no longer with us we remember with a smile
Hairlines recede and waistlines expand
Thinking back on days we wanted to pass by
Now we would give anything to find that innocence again
Friendships, relationships, parties and more
Friday night Football, weekends with friends
Tonight we will tell stories of times gone past
Catch up on each other’s lives
Saying how we should stay in touch
But in reality remembering how so much of these times really sucked.

Time
Time is always moving
Something we think we can control
Always believing we have more than we do
When time goes against us
We always say I wish I had more
The real problem is not how much, but how we use it
Loved ones, friends and family
Always finding reasons why we can’t be with them
Always saying I have plenty of time
Then one day that time is done
Loved ones gone, friends go away, family grows older
We always complain I wish I only had more time
Take that time now
Tell your friends, family, children, and loved ones
How much you love them
Take that time and put away your distractions
Go on that trip, play that game or spend that time with them
Before it is too late.
Friends
Growing up we make friends all around
Some are close and some you just know
They come in all shapes and sizes
For different reasons at different times
We love the time we spend with them
Hoping it will never end
As we grow our friends often change
What we enjoy and what we do affects what we do
Friends from school
Friends from the neighborhood
Friends from sports, church or so much more
As we go into adulthood our friendships change again
Marriages, children and changes to our lives
Now they come from where we work
Where we live and from who our kids know
The closeness we had when we were kids
Replaced by that feeling of unknown
Hoping for that tightness we had when we were young
Someone to laugh with and tell our secrets to
Sometimes we get lucky and find such a friend
We hope that they will be around through thick and thin
A friend like that is hard to find indeed

Thankful
What am I thankful for over this past year
I am thankful for the few close people I call my friend
I am thankful for my Mom who is always there when I need her
I am thankful for my Dad, stubborn as a mule, but a good father none the less
I am thankful for my brother who was always my protector as a little kid
I thankful for my big sister, it has been two years since you passed away, I miss you still
I am thankful for my In-laws who have accepted me as their son and brother
I am thankful for my children, four girls who are all amazing in their own way
I am thankful for my amazing wife, who has put up with me all these years and still loves me
I am most thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who calls me son
Who has forgiven me when I really don’t deserve it.
I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, wherever you are we can all give thanks for something.
