Power of Three

cord3strands

Together we are a strong team

Apart we drift away downstream

When we walk side by side an unbreakable bond we form

Alone we fall to the ground

I will always be there to pick you up

I will always be there to keep you warm

I will always be there to keep you safe

With God as our third a cord

A rope unbroken we well be.

A special thank you for reminding me of the Power of three… Visit her site and you will see.

Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12

Two people are better than one.     They can help each other in everything they do.10 Suppose either of them falls down.     Then the one can help the other one up. But suppose a person falls down and doesn’t have anyone to help them up.     Then feel sorry for that person! 11 Or suppose two people lie down together.     Then they’ll keep warm.     But how can one person keep warm alone? 12 One person could be overpowered.     But two people can stand up for themselves.     And a rope made out of three cords isn’t easily broken.

Today

Today I had a good day.

The Sun shown through the cracks in the shutters

A glint light upon my eyes

Awake to the world around,

I feel your presence near to me

Your breath comes so evenly

I move myself closer to you

To feel you awakens my soul

I nestle my body next to yours

You stir for second

Closer we become entwined as one

I see your face and soak it all in

The radiance it shines out does the Sun

I hold you near not wanting to wake

Enjoying the sound of your gentle breath

To wake in your arms is all I desire

To hold my love so close is such joy

My heart full of passion

My soul full of you

Today was a good day before it really happened.

This is my first attempt at poetry and I write it out to the love of my life, who has inspired me to become so much more.  Love you Babe…

This is the first poem i really ever wrote. Hope you enjoy my first poem from my blog.

Out of Darkness into the Light

Man Walking Towards Cross

Purging the darkness out

Fighting back the void of night

Left with a hole so full of blight

Walking a path through a tunnel ahead

Towards the end and freedom’s stay

Often stumbling and falling to the ground

Arms of darkness trying to pull me back down

Trail ahead fraught with danger

Fighting furiously to save my soul

Alone I’m left lost to despair

Needing the help of the one who has conquered death

Pull me close oh Lord, fill me with your might

Lead my path ahead into your light

On Top of the Mountain

1394692645307

Standing on top of the mountain so high

Telling the world look at me, full of my pride

World looks back and strikes me down

Knocking me off this ground so high

Tumbling down among the rocks I fall

Bashing me bruising my very soul

Crashing amongst the trees

Busting me breaking my heart to pieces

Falling all the way down to the bottom I go

Landing in the mud and the muck of this world so cold

Wanting to just lay down and stay

The valley of death stares my way

Slowly pulling myself back to my knees

I look to the only one who can rescue me

Lift me up Oh Lord upon the wings of an eagle

Heal my battered and bruised soul

Put the pieces of this heart so broken

Back to where they once did belong

Lord my Savior, Lord my God

Guide me back to the mountain top so high

Christmas Memories

222302_1049730013807_2800_n

One of the best things about Christmas is the memories that are made around this time. From family traditions, to opening presents and so much more. One of the big things I always remember as a kid was every Christmas Eve we would head over to my Aunt and Uncles house and celebrate with other relatives that I hadn’t seen since the year before. We would have a big meal, starting off with Oyster Stew (never liked it), chicken and other yummy things. Afterwards we would gather around the Christmas tree (The same Tree every year that I remember). The most memorable thing I received was one of the most awkward things I ever received. I was about 11 or 12 and got a pack of bikini underwear not sure if I ever wore them. Another memory of that time was Christmas morning at our house, I would wake at the crack of dawn, waiting for my parents to wake. After opening all the presents, the phone calls would begin. My friends and I would call each other to see what we had gotten and whoever got the best loot was the house we would all go over to. One Christmas when I was about 10 I had been in the hospital due to a surgery on my wrist. What was suspected as a tumor ended up being a bone infection. I had to spend my entire Christmas Vacation in the hospital, the entire time I had to have an IV attached to me. That was the only time I ever got something I ever really wanted from my parents. As I grew older Christmas lost some of its magic for me and just ended up being another day.

Not until I joined the Army did Christmas change, being away from home and sometimes being out of the country made me appreciate Christmas again. The biggest change was when I got married and had my first daughter. Then Christmas became exciting again, not for myself, but seeing my children get excited over Christmas made it magical again. Being a soldier I had to spend a few Christmases apart from my family and those where some of the hardest times of my life. Another big change for me was when I accepted Christ as my savior. It made me reconsider what Christmas was all about. As they say the reason for the season changed. I always think back to a Charlie Brown Christmas and what Linus said to Charlie Brown, about what Christmas was all about.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.”

Luke 2: 8-14

As a family we started some of our own traditions and attempted unsuccessfully to try others. One of the things we do is have an all night Christmas movie marathon. We watch movies like; White Christmas, Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, A Flintstones Christmas Carol and other versions of  A Christmas Carol. I think Mom and I are usually the first to fall asleep. One year we tried to do the “Elf Meal”, not a hit. Mixing Spaghetti, Maple Syrup, M&Ms, Chocolate Pop Tarts and whatever else we put in there. I must say it tasted awful, so that was an aborted tradition.

What type of traditions do you celebrate with your family?

Well I will end this all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to come.

Mend

fixing-broken-heart

Broken pieces all around

Shards litter the ground

Walking among fragments of a heart, shattered

Trying to mend what was broken apart

Trying to put the puzzle of her heart together again

Piece by piece I try to repair

Praying that they hold tight

I patch, I mend, I try my best

Knowing that much of this I cannot fix

Beyond my control, Beyond my grip

I can only pray to the one who can make a broken heart perfect once more

Lord of all please make full what had been hollow

Replace the damaged pieces of this heart so pure

Make whole the connection of our two hearts again

Amen

Rejection

Rejection is one of the worst feelings

To feel unwanted hurts to no end

Rejection of a parent

Rejection of friend

Rejection of a child

Rejection at work

Rejection from the one you love

But the worst rejection of all

Is when we reject ourselves

This is like dying a bit inside

There is one though who will never reject us

Even when we reject him

Whether you are a nonbeliever or a believer

We reject him in so many ways

He has never rejected us

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

As we celebrate his birth onto this earth

Remember when we feel that pain of rejection

There is one who loves you no matter what

And will never reject you

A Voice in the Heavens

voice-from-heaven-2

Uncertainty clouds my view

Tearing me apart on the inside

Grasping for something to hold on

Looking for the truth in my sight

On what path should I go

How do I choose the way ahead

Looking at the past I see darkness closing in

Listening for a voice in the heavens

Telling me which way to go

A song reaches out to me from the nebulous

Calling me forward

Giving me hope

The music of the Angels

A beautiful hymn of love and grace

Brings me to that truthful place.

In a Box

god-in-a-box

Inside a box a life is lived

Told what to do

How to live

Don’t stray from these confines

You will be left astray

Books that tell us how to love

Books that tell us how to make friends

Speeches on how to influence people

Classes on how to become rich

People that tell you how to save your relationship

So many ways and ideas exist

But in the end, they all reside within the limits set forth with

Try to live outside the norms

Ostracized by the world you become

Why do I have to live my life by others worldly rules

Yes, some laws make sense, like do not murder or do not steal

My life does not fit into your box, I am messed up screwed up beyond the norm

But maybe this is what is normal and not what you portray

I worship, love, interact and play in my own way.

I don’t fit in your box
